Who Wins? Slade Wilson Vs Kyōjurō Rengoku: Deathstroke x The Flame Hashira

Updated: Jan 17, 2023

Who Would Win?

Slade Wilson (Deathstroke)

Slade Wilson Profile

Slade Wilson, who had lied about his age, joined the American Army at the age of 16. He was assigned to Camp Washington after serving in the Korean War and was given the rank of major there. He first encountered Captain Adeline Kane in the early 1960s, when she was tasked with instructing new fighting techniques to inexperienced soldiers in preparation for impending unrest in Vietnam. Kane was astounded by Slade's competence and quick learning of the tactics of contemporary conflict.

In less than a year, Slade mastered every fighting technique that was taught to him and swiftly rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was chosen by the Army to participate in a clandestine operation that aimed to create metahuman super-soldiers for the American military. He was administered a medicine that increased his physical powers and gave him near-mastery control over his body (accelerated healing factor and heightened senses). Thanks to his augmentation, he was able to regain his youth and halt aging. He is nearly immortal and looks to be much younger than he actually is; Deathstroke became a mercenary soon after the experiment.

In order to make Slade reveal the identity of the client who had hired him as an assassin, the Jackal, a criminal, kidnapped Joseph Wilson, Slade's son. As it went against his personal honor code, Slade objected to reveal the information, and at the meeting place, he assaulted and murdered the abductors. Slade was able to rescue his son but at the cost of physical harm to Joseph. Adeline, infuriated that Slade put their child at risk, made an effort to murder Slade. Adeline shot him, but she was only able to shoot his right eye. Slade was left with reduced vision, which is evident by the fact that his mask includes a dark, featureless portion covering his missing right eye. Without his mask, Slade covers his eye with an eye patch.

Slade has fought a variety of DC superheroes throughout the years, primarily the Teen Titans, and has even been imprisoned before breaking out. He has also occasionally worked with the heroes of Earth and the American government in order to preserve the planet or further what he sees as a bigger purpose. Slade Wilson occasionally does heroic actions, but in the end he pursues his own goals, searches for methods to deceive and manipulate people, and violates his own sense of honor.

Kyōjurō Rengoku (The Flame Hashira)

Kyojuro Rengoku Profile

In his family of four, Kyojuro is the eldest son. For a very long time, his family has consistently produced Flame Pillars for the Demon Slayer Corps.

A Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps, Kyojuro is a very powerful and skilled combatant. Before taking over his father's position, Kyojuro had already demonstrated that he was a tremendous warrior. He was able to avenge the murders of the nine Demon Slayers who were killed by the Flute Demon by personally killing Lower Rank Two, Hairo, who even gave him a swordsmanship rating before he died. Furthermore, once Shinjuro Rengoku stopped teaching his son, Kyojuro prepared himself to become a Hashira by reading the three-volume textbook for the Flame Breathing method, according to Shinjuro Rengoku.

When it comes to doing his duties as a Hashira, Kyojuro is extremely eager and frequently comes off as joyfully goofy. He is kind, good-hearted, and possesses exceptional swordsmanship and skill as a result of rigorous training and discipline. He is a brave warrior who lived by the ideals and values that his mother taught in him at an early age, the most important of which was his conviction that those who are born powerful had a responsibility to defend the weak.

Verdict: The Assassin vs The Slayer; this battle is sure to be spectacle that transcends the anime/comic medium. Rengoku is a renown and well respected swordsman with exceptional strength and speed. He is a master of the Flame breathing technique, in conjunction with total concentration breathing to the extent of accelerated healing feats. However, no amount of breathing would protect him from the walking personification of the devil that is Deathstroke. From mind manipulation and strategic forethought Deathstroke is a elite psychological warrior. Moreover, his proficiency with multiple weapons in coupling with his astounding strength speed and healing factor allow him to keep up in fight with even the likes of the Justice League.

Considering the flames that Rengoku is depicted with during his attacks or movements are not actually produced, but utilized as more of a metaphor of his abilities, Slade Wilson will real life mess this boy up. Being the Flame Hashira...Rengoku should have a well lit vigil, as Deathstroke will land the final blow upon this beast of an opponent.

Winner: Slade Wilson (Deathstroke)
